Climbing club in Colchester, based at the University of Essex. A club run by climbers, for climbers.

Weekly Meets

We meet for the club sessions twice a week at the University of Essex Sports Centre (excluding bank holidays or when the Sports Centre is closed).

The wall

The wall is around 9m high and has 16 lines:

  • Lead / top-rope
    • 5 vertical lines
    • 4 overhang lines
    • 2 vertical lines with arête finish
    • 1 vertical line with overhang finish
  • Lead only
    • 1 overhang girder line
  • Top-rope only
    • 1 overhang line
    • 1 slab line
    • 1 vertical line

Times & Cost

  • Monday: 7:30pm - 10pm
  • Thursday: 8pm - 10pm
  • Cost: £4 members / £7 non-members

Please note that as voted on at our last AGM we are no longer running the Young Climbers sessions on Monday evenings. There are many other facilities available locally including Colchester Climbing Project (which has supervised specialist young climber sessions), The Cragg at Stowmarket (which can teach children how to belay) and the Out There club.

Finding us

Follow signs to the University of Essex. When you enter Boundary Road, follow the signs for Car Park B, take the second right into the car park and park near the multi-storey. The Sports Centre is the red brick building next to the car park and it's reception is on the far side of the building. Please report to reception upon arrival.
